Full Details

What kind of people take the NEBOSH National Construction Certificate?

The National Construction Certificate is aimed at Supervisors, Managers, and CDM co-ordinators within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely. It is likely to prove useful for those concerned within the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely.

The qualification is also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries such as utilities, and even broadcasting where temporary workplaces are a feature of their activities

Is the NEBOSH National Construction Certificate a recognised qualification?

This qualification is accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health – in meeting academic requirements for Technical Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH). It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (llRSM) for associate membership (AllRSM).

What does the course cover?

It covers a broad range of construction hazards and the means by which they can be controlled. It includes the many legal requirements relating to construction work and enables students to undertake effective safety inspections on a construction site.

The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate consists of three units; each separately assessed.

How is the course assessed?

Students are assessed with written examinations for NGC1 and NCC1. NCC2 is assessed by a practical examination testing the ability to identify health and safety issues in a construction workplace. NCC2 needs to be taken within 14 days of a written examination. A unit of credit is issued denoting successful completion of all three units.
