Objectives
To provide an awareness of the legislation and the skills required to support trench excavations and other services during the laying and repairing of utility mains and services
Who for
Anyone involved with excavation work who will need the knowledge and skills to safely support trench and other services.
Course content
· Safety regulation requirement relating to excavations
· How to identify rock and soil formations and the characteristics of principal soil types
· How to use basic tools and equipment for timbering and steel sheeting
· Timbering and steel sheeting work using methods appropriate to different types of ground conditions
· The use of proprietary shoring systems
· The withdrawal of steel sheets and timber and backfilling excavations
· Safe working procedures in excavations up to 2 metres
Training method
Classroom based tutorials supported by practical exercises.
This course can be delivered on client’s premises depending on facilities and delegate numbers
A room large enough, with an electrical supply will be required for the theory session.
