UTN History

Utilities Training Northern Limited. (UTN) formed in 1996 to meet a specific need within the construction industry to ensure that public utility companies and their contractors received adequate training to comply with the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991. Following on from the success of this specific training, UTN expanded to meet the many and varied requests for general health and safety training within other industries. More recently, UTN introduced health and safety consultancy and management training to its portfolio to meet client demand. Through its use of industry qualified and experienced tutors, the company has maintained a policy of providing the highest level of instruction and by constantly reviewing the quality of courses ensures that the training satisfies client needs and expectations. Working closely with local colleges, UTN gained approval from City & Guilds, IOSH, RTITB, CITB and other awarding bodies to deliver training on clients’ premises or from their Wakefield centre. ISO 9002 accreditation was gained in 1999.
