Working at Heights Training at Work

Working at height can come with many risks, and as an employer, you’re liable for any falls or injuries that may occur. Work at height means work in any place where, if there were no precautions in place, a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury. If you are someone who controls work at height, such as a contractor or factory owner, you need to be compliant with this regulation.

IPAF Training

We are recognised as one of the leading approved IPAF training providers in the UK. If you operate or supervise anyone operating powered access at work, we offer a full range of operator and advanced IPAF training courses. Our IPAF courses are available at one of our training centres, at your own location where appropriate, or online.

IPAF Operator 2 Subjects 3a & 3b, 1a & 1b

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWPs including scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. Training for this course can be undertaken on the following IPAF categories: 1a, 1b, 3a and 3b.

IPAF Operator Online eLearning

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWPs including scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. Training for this course can be undertaken on the following IPAF categories: 1a, 1b, 3a and 3b. Theory part takes place online with a minimum of a half- day of practical training and testing

IPAF Operator 1 Subject Static Vertical 1a

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and operate IPAF category 1a - Static Vertical Personnel Lifts. Static vertical platforms are smaller vertical access machines which must be moved into position and the stabilisers deployed before the platform is elevated. Static vertical personnel lifts are typically used for tasks such as building maintenance.

IPAF Operator 1 Subject Static Boom 1b

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate IPAF category 1b - Static Boom self-propelled booms, including truck mounted, van mounted, and tracked platforms. Static booms are powered access platforms that's fixed in position using stabilisers, outriggers or jacks before the elevating boom can be used. This category of machine includes lorry mounted, van mounted, trailer push-around and tracked platforms.

IPAF Operator 1 Subject Mobile Vertical 3a

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate IPAF category 3a - Mobile Vertical scissor lifts and vertical personnel platforms. Mobile vertical powered access refers to MEWPs that move straight up and down vertically only.

IPAF Operator 1 Subject Mobile Boom 3b

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card;
Instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate IPAF category 3b - Mobile Self Propelled Boom Lifts (cherry pickers), from telescopic boom lifts to articulating boom lifts. Mobile self propelled cherry pickers refers to MEWPs that move up and over obstacles.

IPAF PAL Plus / PAL+

PAL+ card;
The PAL+ course is open to any operator who currently holds a valid IPAF card in the relevant category and who work in higher risk or challenging environments, e.g. steelwork, work in confined overhead spaces, work on challenging terrain.

IPAF Push Around Vertical / PAV

PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID Card or log book endorsed;
Designed to enable operators to safely manoeuvre and position IPAF category PAV - Push Around Verticals - also referred to as personnel lifts.

IPAF MEWPs for Managers

MEWPs for Managers certificate;
The course is aimed at supervisors and managers that control the work of others in the use of MEWPs in the workplace. Delegates get taught how to prepare for and safely coordinate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) within their control.

IPAF MEWPs for Managers Online

MEWPs for Managers certificate;
The MEWPs for Managers New Generation Online course is aimed at supervisors and managers that control the work of others in the use of MEWPs in the workplace.

IPAF Harness Training

IPAF Harness certificate or log book endorsed
This harness training course from IPAF is aimed at anyone operating powered access. The delegates will learn how to inspect and use a harness.

PASMA Towers For Users

PASMA certificate and photo ID card;
This PASMA course is aimed at anyone that is or will be responsible for the assembly, dismantling,alteration, moving and inspecting of mobile access towers. Delegates will learn how to safely assemble, dismantle, relocate and alter a mobile access tower without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others; using the approved build methods.

PASMA Low Level Access

PASMA certificate and photo card;
This PASMA course is aimed at users of low level access equipment (<2.5m). The course is designed to train delegates how to safely assemble, dismantle and relocate low level access units without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others.

PASMA Work at Height Essentials

PASMA certificate and photo card;
Covers the essential information about the use of mobile access towers and is designed to enable an individual to effectively comply with their duties under the Work at Height Regulations

PASMA Combined Low Level Access and Standard Towers

PASMA certificate and photo card;
Aimed at anyone who may work from low level access units and standard mobile access towers. Delegates will learn how to safely assemble, dismantle, and relocate low level access units and standard mobile access towers without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others.

PASMA Towers on Stairs

PASMA certificate and photo card;
Delegates must hold a current PASMA Towers for Users PhotoCard and have a good knowledge of working at height. Aimed at anyone whose work involves using a tower on stairs. Delegates will learn how to safely assemble, dismantle, alter, use and inspect towers on stairs.

 

Ladder Association Training

We are a Ladder Association approved training provider and we offer courses for users of ladders, stepladders and step stools. Fatal injuries in the workplace have remained level in recent years but falls from height is still one of the biggest causes. The Ladder Association training courses cover essential information in the safe use of ladders, ladder standards, hazards and the law.

Provides delegates with a recognised certification enabling a person to safely use ladders and step-ladders to carry out, and document, periodic statutory ladder inspections.

What is Working at Height training?

Work at height means work in any place where, if precautions were not taken, a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury. Working at height training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our training facilities and is focused on fall prevention rather than fall arrest. It is designed to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to safely work in any height situation, primarily being aimed at general construction, maintenance or other work situations where work is conducted in a place where a fall from one level to another is possible.

Can you do Working at Heights online?

Yes. We have several courses that offer working at heights online or eLearning. IPAF MEWP Operator eLearning is available for all MEWP categories (1a, 1b, 3a, 3b). We also offer the MEWPs for Managers New Generation training online
